Active audiences have minds of their own, putting their own meaning into media meaasges. They have an active nature rather than a passive one.
People are able to post pictures of their friends and family allowing them to get more involved this is just one of many examples

Nintendo Wii

A new technology that is sure to get you off your seat, allowing you to jump right into the action!
There will be no more sitting infront of the tv pushing buttons to win the game, the nintendo wii allows you to physically get involved. Despite looking slightly stupid (like mr luhrs on friday) its the first step in making video games more about movement.

Sky plus is the next step up allowing you to pause live television, because of this, you're no longer missing the best bits of your favourite programmes.
Forget to pause your tv while you rush to get a drink? Its not a problem. Sky plus allows you to rewind as well as pause and record.
But is sky plus really a good idea? Has it taken away the whole experiance of television?
http://www.apple.com/iphone/
Most people have heard of the ipod and mp3's and most people will own one too.
The latest apple technology soon to become the next big thing is the iphone. The phone will allow consumers to connect to the internet, use the phone and also includes its very own ipod technology.
The phone has its very own touch pad allowing everything to be controled by touch. To call somebody in your phone book all you would need to do is point at the persons name or number.
  • Most films and music tracks and albums are now extremly to download illegaly and it is pretty much impossibe to stop or controll. Downloading is the future.
  • Internet piracy is theft, but there are many different views on the topic. Consumers dont see it as a problem as some of them still go out and buy CD's so are spending larger amounts of money on music anyway.
  • Due to this, Universal sales are declining dramaticaly and they have alot to lose.
  • Shawn Fanning was the creater of napster and he used it to share music/films with his friends. The site became more and more popular with the wider population which began causing the problem. 5,000 people in the UK have already lost their jobs.
  • In the US there has been a 10% drop in profit due to internet downloads alone.
  • It was thought that if there was a new chip in computer systems that could prevent people being able to download music and burn it on to CD's music downloads would become very limited. This idea was never followed through due to the chance of it harming computer sales.
  • With a broadband connection it would only take a matter of seconds to download music and hours for films.
  • Some bands thought that downloading their music was theft but others took it as a chance to promote their bands and get themselves better known.

http://www.rssmedia.blogspot.com/ This website discusses issues that could well be brought up concerning different aspects of media technologies.

http://media.guardian.co.uk/site/story/0,,2015995,00.html Why you tube clips are good for television, but is the whole idea too good to be true?
