  • Most films and music tracks and albums are now extremly to download illegaly and it is pretty much impossibe to stop or controll. Downloading is the future.
  • Internet piracy is theft, but there are many different views on the topic. Consumers dont see it as a problem as some of them still go out and buy CD's so are spending larger amounts of money on music anyway.
  • Due to this, Universal sales are declining dramaticaly and they have alot to lose.
  • Shawn Fanning was the creater of napster and he used it to share music/films with his friends. The site became more and more popular with the wider population which began causing the problem. 5,000 people in the UK have already lost their jobs.
  • In the US there has been a 10% drop in profit due to internet downloads alone.
  • It was thought that if there was a new chip in computer systems that could prevent people being able to download music and burn it on to CD's music downloads would become very limited. This idea was never followed through due to the chance of it harming computer sales.
  • With a broadband connection it would only take a matter of seconds to download music and hours for films.
  • Some bands thought that downloading their music was theft but others took it as a chance to promote their bands and get themselves better known.
